KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Nepal leg-spin sensation Sandeep Lamichhane delivered a miserly spell of four overs conceding 21 runs in Sylhet Sixers’ first win against Chittagong Vikings in the second match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier league held at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, on Wednesday.
Lamichhane was wicket-less in his spell but Bangladeshi international bowler Taskin Ahmed snared four as Sixers successfully defended the total of 168 runs by five runs. Veteran Bangladeshi allrounder Alok Kapali picked two wickets, aiding Sixers to register its first win of the season.

South African Robbie Frylinck remained unbeaten on 44 runs smashing a four and four sixes in 24 deliveries he faced to take Vikings closer to the total before eventually losing the match by five runs. Countrymen Cameron Delport scored 38 runs at top of the innings followed by Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza who managed 37 runs as Vikings finished 163/7 in 20 overs.
Earlier, Sixers won the toss and elected to bat first as skipper David Warner smashed a hard-worked half-century scoring 59 runs from 47 deliveries which included two fours and a six.
West Indian Nicklaus Pooran remained unbeaten on 52 runs from 32 deliveries which included three fours and three sixes to propel team’s total to 168 runs at the end of 20 overs. Similarly, Afif Hossain made a crucial contribution of 45 runs from 28 deliveries which included five fours and three sixes. Frylinck earlier starred with ball for Vikings picking up three wickets.
Sixers will next face Dhaka Dynamites on Saturday.
