KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Nepal’s popular leg-spin bowler Sandeep Lamichhane registers a bowling spell of wicket-less four overs conceding 21 runs in Sylhet Sixers’ fifth defeat in seven matches against Rangpur Riders during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League at Sylhet on Saturday.
Player of the match Rillee Rossouw top-scored for Riders with 61 runs from 35 deliveries including nine fours and two sixes to complete the chase of 195 runs by four wickets in the last over of the match.
Lamichhane takes two wickets despite Sixers defeat
Lamichhane’s teammate Bangladeshi fast bowler Taskin Ahmed scalped four wickets but it went in vain as Abraham de Villiers and Alex Hales scored 34 and 33 runs respectively to get the total posted by Sixers in the match. Earlier, Sabbir Rahman smashed 85 runs from 51 deliveries including five fours and six sixes to lead the Sixers batting after being invited to bat first by Riders. Nicklaus Pooran gave the finishing the innings required with his quick fire unbeaten 47 runs from 27 deliveries including four boundaries and three sixes in the innings. Sixers ended the batting innings with 194 runs on board for the loss of four wickets. Sixers is sixth in the points table led by Dhaka Dynamites. Khulna Titans are last on the seven-team premier T20 league. Both teams are set to face each other on Wednesday and Saturday either side of the match against Rajshahi Kings on Friday.
