KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Nepal national cricket team spinner Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets as his team Melbourne Stars defeated Sydney Sixers by 94 runs to reach the semifinals of the Big Bash League on Sunday. In the last league game, Melbourne has finished in fourth place with 14 points from 14 games.
Lamichhane picks three in Stars’ second loss
Sixers had already reached the last four finishing third with 16 points. Likewise, Hobart Hurricanes is at the top with 20 points. Melbourne lost the toss and was invited to bat first. It presented a target of 169 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Glex Maxwell scored the highest 82 runs for the team, while Peter Handscomb and Marcus Stoinis hit 35 and 34 runs respectively. In reply, Sydner was all out at 74 runs in 13.4 overs. Lamichhane was the standout bowler of the game as he took three wickets giving away 11 runs in 3.4 overs.
