Lamichhane drafted by Montreal Tigers for Global T20 Canada

KATHMANDU, June 4: Nepal teen sensation Sandeep Lamichhane’s next stint will be in Toronto, Canada after the leg-spinner was picked by the Montreal Tigers franchise in Round 6 of the players draft held on Sunday to feature in Global T20 Canada. It is a Twenty20 cricket tournament in Canada with first edition of the tournament scheduled to be held from 28 June to 15 July.

Six teams, CWI Representative, Edmonton Royals, Montreal Tigers, Toronto Nationals, Vancouver Knights and Winnipeg Hawks, will take part in the tournament with all the matches being played at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in Toronto.

Tom Moody who was recently with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League will unify with fellow IPL representative Lamichhane (Delhi Daredevils) for the Montreal Tigers.

“This is truly a wonderful opportunity for the game in Canada and North America. I am delighted to be involved as one of the head coaches of the league. I will do everything possible in my role to support the success of this tournament,” said Moody.

Lamichhane will share the dressing room with marquee international players like Dinesh Ramdin, Mohammad Hafeez, Thisara Perera, Sunil Narine, LasithMalinga and Sikandar Raza who were picked in the draft on Sunday.

Australian cricket players David Warner for Winnipeg Hawks and Steve Smith for Toronto Nationals will be the biggest draw for the tournament.
