Lalitpur metropolis adds 2 new advanced fire engines

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has bought two advanced fire engines.

The metropolis has put into operation two double-cabin fire engines that are capable of throwing water fountains at a distance of more than 100 meters.

The metropolis has stated that the fire engines of the Japanese company Isuzu Motors have been imported at a cost of Rs 56.5 million.

Municipality Police Chief Sitaram Hachhethu said that the Metropolitan Corporation has brought in fire engines equipped with foam for the first time.

"In situations involving petrol pumps or chemical facilities, traditional water may not effectively extinguish the fire. This is the first fire engine in our area equipped with foam for such scenarios," Hachhethu stated.

According to him, the latest technologies are installed in these fire engines. "They are equipped with a light that can even penetrate the smoke, because it has a compact design compared to other fire engines, it can pass through even in narrow places, this is a four-wheeled fire engine, it works easily even on muddy and uphill roads," he said.

In addition to the two new fire engines, Lalitpur metropolis now has five fire engines. The newly added fire engines have a water tank capacity of 2,500 liters and a foam storage capacity exceeding 300 liters.

According to Hachhethu, if a fire breaks out near a pond or well, these fire engines have the capability to utilize water suction for firefighting.

Lalitpur Metropolitan City officially inaugurated the operation of the fire engines on Wednesday.
