KATHMANDU, May 19: The death toll in the tin shed fire incident in Lalitpur has reached four.
Sanjay Giri, who was critically injured in a fire at a tin shed in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-17, passed away on Saturday. Giri's death follows the earlier deaths of his two daughters and his wife.
The fire, which broke out on May 6 in a tin shed where Mobil was stored, left Giri and five members of his family injured. The District Police Range, Lalitpur, confirmed that Giri, who had been on a ventilator at KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital, died on Saturday.
Sanjay's wife, Rupa Giri, succumbed to her injuries on May 13 at the same hospital. Their two daughters, 8-year-old Priya Giri and 3-year-old Alisha Giri, died on the next day they were left injured in the fire.
Sanjay's nephew, 15-year-old Neet Giri, who was also injured in the fire, is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
