Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 79

140 COVID-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: With four more COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 79 on Monday.

According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, two people from Kathmandu and one each from Banke and Parsa succumbed to coronavirus disease.

A 76-year old man from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10 in Mid-Baneshwor while undergoing treatment at Mediciti Hospital. A 64-year man from Kirtipur Tyanglafat also died of COVID-19 on Monday.

Similarly, another 70-year old woman from Kohalpur Municipality-2 in Banke succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College. She was admitted to the hospital on August 7. 

Also, a 45-year old female from Devayani-15 in Parsa district died of COVID-19 infection on August 9. She was undergoing treatment at Narayani Hospital. 

According to MoHP, as many as 140 people, who had earlier tested positive for COVID-19, have recovered successfully and returned home on Monday. Nepal’s COVID-19 recovery tally now stands at 16,493.

The MoHP also confirmed 338 new cases of COVID-19 across the nation in the past 24 hours.
