KATHMANDU, Oct 3: UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee member and former lawmaker Shivachandra Kushwaha has joined the Rajendra Mahato-led Sadhbhawana party on Thursday.

Kushwaha decided to quit the party as the UCPN (Maoist) did not pick him as a candidate for Bara Constituency number 2 despite party district committee’s recommendation.

He has filed candidacy for Bara-2 from the Mahato-led Sadhbhawana party on Thursday. Kushwaha will be contesting election with the UCPNM leader Ram Babu Yadav. [break]

Kushwaha, one of the supporters of leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai, was sacked from the party’s district coordinator a few days ago.

Talking to Republica after filing candidacy, Kushwaha said, “Madhesh liberation is impossible by the UCPNM, it is evident that the UCPNM leaders are opportunists too.” He predicted that the UCPNM could never win the election in the Madhesh.

Kushwaha claimed that the Madhesi people would boycott the UCPNM in the forthcoming election. Kushwaha was elected with a large number of votes in the last CA election held in 2008 from Bara-1.
