KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Thursday announced the final squad (14 regular and four reserved players) for the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Malaysia from October 15-22.
Kushal Bhurtel replaced Ashish Dhami in the squad. As per a press statement issued by CAN, Kushal is the only new face in the 14-member regular squad. The remaining 13 players were in the previous squad that played the ACC U-19 Premier League held in Malaysia from August 23 to September 3.Raju Rijal (captain), Aarif Sheikh, Shankar Rana, Prem Tamang, Saurabh Khanal, Sandeep Sunar, Yogendra Karki, Sushil Kandel, Sunil Dhamala, Deepesh Shrestha, Dipendra Airee, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, and Rajbir Singh are the other members of the team.
They all were in the squad that finished second in the ACC U-19 Premier League.
However, Ashish Dhami, who was in the regular squad last time, has been named in the reserved players' list along with Kamal Airee, Himanshu Dutta and Sandeep Lamichhane.
Nepal will face Papua New Guinea in its opening match of the qualifiers on October 15. Nepal is scheduled to play Uganda on October 16, the USA on October 19 and Ireland on October 21.
The final and third place play-off matches will be played on October 22. The winner of the qualifiers will be selected for the ICC U-19 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh next year.
