While the Kulekhani Hydropower used to produce 73 MW until Saturday, it has been generating 119 MW of electricity Sunday onwards, said engineer Ishwori Prasad Jaiswal.
"This is all because of the raised level water in Kulekhani Reservoir. Daily the water level is increasing by five centimeter," said another engineer Babu Kazi Hamal.
Hamal said that electricity can be generated for the next one month in full capacity, even though rainfall did not occur till that period.
The Kulekhani project was designed to generate power during dry season when run-of-river projects cannot produce to capacity because of low water levels in the rivers.
