KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Kripa Foundation felicitated three renowned composers and singers this weekend on the occasion of its first anniversary. The foundation, which is associated with the field of music, said it honored the veterans for their long-standing contribution to Nepali music.
During the function organized at Heritage Garden, Lalitpur, on Friday, the foundation also provided financial support to the First Women Journalists Everest Expedition Team as an encouragement.

Renowned singer and chief guest Prem Dhwoj Pradhan inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamps. Another famed signer Om Bikram Bista, who is currently undergoing treatment for kidney-related aliment, was awarded with the Kripa-Ratna Award by the organizers. Bista also received Rs 51,000 as cash prize.
Likewise, poet and lyricist Ratna Shumsher Thapa and singer Yogeshwar Biadhya were conferred upon special honors during the function. Kripa Foundation’s Chairman, Shiva Lamichhane also unveiled an album titled ‘Jaya Nepal’ during the function.
Meanwhile, the organizers with the support from Bahara Jewellers handed over a check of Rs 500,000 to the women journalists attempting to scale the world’s highest peak, Mt Everest, this April. The mountaineering team includes Rojita Buddhacharya of Nepal Television, Rosha Basnet of RSS, Priya Laxmi Karki of News 24, Kalpana Maharjan of Megha Television and Deurali Chamling, a freelancer.
