Korean Ambassador Taekwondo from Dec 22

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: District taekwondo associations Kathmandu and Lalitpur are jointly organizing Seventh Korean Ambassador Open National Taekwondo Championship from December 22-24 at the Physical Training and Sports Center of Nepal Army, in Lagankhel, Lalitpur.

Organizing a press meet in the capital on Thursday, Maniraj Bista, chief of the organizing committee informed that the biennial event is being organized under the aegis of Korean Embassy of Nepal and Nepal Taekwondo Association.The hosts claimed that players from 50 districts and the three departmental teams--Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force--will take part in the event. The organizers have estimated participation of around 2,000 players in a total of 32 events under kyorugi and poomsae categories.

The expected cost of the tournament is Rs 4.2 million, with the host receiving Rs 479,000 from the Korean Embassy.

"We will arrange remaining amount required to host the event from National Sports Council (NSC), Nepal Taekwondo Association and local sponsors," said Bista. "The tournament earlier scheduled to be held in the beginning of the year was delayed following the devastating earthquake and political reasons."
