Koirala demands withdrawal of Constitutional Council Bill

KATHMANDU, July 11: Dr Shekhar Koirala of the ruling Nepal Congress (NC) said that the Bill related to the Constitutional Council should be withdrawn.

KATHMANDU, July 11: Dr Shekhar Koirala of the ruling Nepal Congress (NC) said that the Bill related to the Constitutional Council should be withdrawn.


Koirala also said that the bill should be withdrawn amid widespread protests against the bill, which was introduced by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba with the provision of making constitutional appointments in the presence of a majority of members.

When the former prime minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli had brought the bill with the same provision, PM Deuba who was the leader of the main opposition back then, protested. However, now that PM Deuba has registered the same bill including the same provision, there has been a protest from within his party.
