KATHMANDU, July 15: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Wednesday unveiled a budget of Rs 3.98 billion for the upcoming fiscal year. Just as the national budget that was unveiled on Tuesday, the budget of the metropolis, too, has given priority to reconstruction works, particularly of the historical sites.
Amid a function held in the capital on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Prakash Man Singh unveiled the metropolis' budget.

The metropolis has planned to enforce demolition of risky buildings in highly dense settlements in coordination with the government. For that the metropolis has allocated Rs 10 million. The KMC has allocated Rs 50 million for rebuilding its main office building at Bag Darbur, which was damaged in the devastating earthquake.
Similarly the KMC has allocated Rs 35 million for the renovation of Ratna Park, Ranipokhari, Balaju Park. The KMC has allocated Rs 100 million to improve public transportation of metropolis. For that the metropolis would coordinate with Sajha Yatayat. The KMC also aims to implement the Electronic Building Permit System from all its 35 ward offices from the upcoming fiscal year.
