KATHMANDU, March 24: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is going to collect data for the 'Poor Household Identification and Identity Card Distribution Program' from April 7. The KMC has already provided trainers for the training of enumerators and supervisors for the manpower to be employed in that task.

Bimala Koirala, acting head of the Social Development Department of the KMC, said, “Those officers who have completed training will undertake the responsibility of training enumerators and supervisors starting April 2." In a bid to recruit personnel for accounting and supervisory roles, KMC issued a public notice on December 2, 2023.

Following a thorough review of applications, the preliminary list of candidates was released on January 28, and the final selection was made based on merit through interviews conducted by KMC from February 4 to 7. A total of 21 supervisors and 299 enumerators were appointed.

KMC aims to complete the data collection process by mid-July. The initiative, initially launched in 2013 across 23 districts, requires the renewal of identity cards every five years as per legal provisions.

The underprivileged will be facilitated access to financial assistance for chronic illnesses, targeted healthcare services, and various state-provided facilities, streamlining support for vulnerable groups based on their identity cards.
