KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started giving information on house permit to the service seekers through Short Message Service (SMS). 

The KMC believes that this move would help make the municipality services speedy, efficient and effective, KMC IT Division Chief, Dhruba Kafley said. 

According to Kafley, this service would however be available to only those KMC denizens who have got their house sketches passed through the electronic service. The KMC has started electronic endorsing of house sketches since two years. 

So far, 38 people have benefitted from the SMS service which was started from January 21. 
Information regarding temporary permission of house sketch, approval for construction of up to ground floor (entire house) and completion of construction works or information if the sketch cannot be approved. 

One can check the progress of one's application for approval of the house sketch, its status, in which stage of the official process it is in and other related information on his/her smart phone after entering the registration number he/she has been provided while registering the house sketch by logging into www.kathmandu.gov.np.(RSS)
