KATHMANDU, July 8: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started the process to provide scholarships to needy students studying in institutional schools.

Since the institutional schools are reluctant to provide scholarships, KMC itself has started the process to distribute scholarships.

The Education Department of the KMC in a notice said that preparations have been made to provide scholarships for students studying in Grade 11. According to KMC, applications for scholarships for students studying in class 11 will be open from July 13.

The application can be filled online till July 28. The metropolis has announced the schedule for taking the examination of the students who have applied for scholarships on August 5.

The exam will have 100 multiple choice objective questions based on class 10 syllabus. KMC said that the school scholarship quota and examination center will be announced later.

In the Education Act-2028 BS, there is a provision that institutional schools should provide free scholarships to underprivileged, differently abled, women, students from Dalit or indigenous communities, ensuring that their number is at least ten percent of the total student population in the school.
