KMC starts monitoring infrastructure projects

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started infrastructure monitoring from Wednesday.

The monitoring and evaluation committee headed by Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol is monitoring the infrastructure projects across the metropolis.

On the first day, the members of the committee including the Vice Chairman of the City Planning Commission, Dr. Sumannar Singh Rajbhandari, inspected the under construction office building and badminton court of Ward No. 29.

The committee also instructed the office building construction side to provide a quality test report. Similarly, when working on the slope of the building, it has been instructed to work in the presence of the monitoring committee and the technical experts of the metropolis.

According to Deputy Mayor Dangol, during the monitoring of the ward office, aspects such as rods, cement quality, construction site surface, underground floor, mix and thickness of construction materials were observed.

During the monitoring, the Vice Chairman of the Commission Dr. Rajbhandari said that the committee monitored construction materials like sand, sticks, cement, bricks and the way of construction. “We look at the quality of materials during construction. Based on the requirements, the work of conducting quality tests will now be started,” he said.

According to Sumitra Lamichhane, head of the planning monitoring and evaluation unit of the metropolis, regular monitoring of the infrastructure plan has been started. Initially, 10 major projects will be monitored. The first phase of monitoring is the big projects in Ward No. 3, 4, 9, 16, 22, 26 and 29.
