KJWP leader arrested

ITAHARI, Aug 30: Police on Saturday night arrested Kainla Khambu aka Ajay Rai, a central member of Kirant Janabadi Workers´ Party (KJWP), from a house in Itahari-4 where he was taking shelter. The police arrested him acting on a tip-off, police inspector Surendra Sitaula said.



Police had been searching for KJWP leaders and activists after an armed group organized a press conference two days ago at Taltalaiya, about 4 km north of Itahari bazaar, and warned of strong protests if the government did not withdraw the special security plan.
