The 11-year-old daughter of Nathuni Sada of Bagara-9 of Mahottari was killed two months ago. The girl who was sleeping with her grandmother Ratiyadevi suddenly disappeared on December 13 last year. [break]Her parents informed the police at Lohapatti Police Station about the incident on the night of the incident itself.
Later, the girl was found dead in a canal about 1 km southwest from the village. Police had sent the dead body to Janakpur Zonal Hospital for autopsy. Family members said police are not following up on the case.
Tired of visiting local leaders asking their help for the justice, Sada family and some three dozen members of the community on Monday reached Janakpur to seek media´s help for their struggle for justice. Victim´s family and Musahar community members also staged encircled the District Police Office demanding investigation.
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and other rights groups in the district have said they will actively work to ensure justice to the victim. While NHRC regional head Budhhi Narayan Sahani blamed police for not investigating the death, police at Lohapatti claimed their investigation is under way.
