Muledada´s five youths-- Abhi Bahadur Singh, 27, Birendra Singh, 20, Basanta Singh, 16, Dhirendra Singh, 17, Ganesh Bahadur Singh, 30 -- and Hari Bahadur Shahi, 18, of Ward no 7 of the same VDC, were killed in a landslide triggered by the heavy downpour on Wednesday night at Gaurikunda in India. According to the locals, the deceased youths had left the village for India on April 27. Janak Singh, a local, informed that the youths had quit their studies and headed for India in the hope of earning some money to help their families. Janak informed that the whole village is in mourning.
The families of the deceased have requested the government to help bring the bodies home. "We don´t know in what condition our children´s dead bodies are in India. Without government help they may not receive proper last rites," said Nayan Bahadur Singh, father of Abhi Bahadur.
Meanwhile, a landslide in Doti claimed lives of two people on Wednesday night. According to Dipak Adhikari, chief district officer( CDO) of Doti, Kammar Singh Bogati, 55, who owns a shop in Kathmandu and his wife Kitthi Bogati, 48, were killed after their house was buried under a landslide Wednesday night at around 11 pm. Similarly, the rescuers have found unidentified body of a person in the course of searching for missing Devi Bogati of Gaguda-3, who was swept way by a local river. Devi´s situation is still unknown.
