The police freed the six-year-old son of industrialist Pratap Rana from a house 40km away from the Bhajani border with the help of an Indian national at 1 a.m. on Sunday and brought him to the District Police Office in Kailali.
“We requested the Indian contractor at the Bhajani border to help us free the boy. He handed over the boy to us bringing him from the house in Nighasan ,” Superintendent of Police Uttam Bahadur Singh said.
The police have arrested nine locals of Kalaili for their alleged involvement in the abduction. Among the arrested are main accused Rakesh Hamal, Gagan Dhami and Shamsher Shah along with accomplices Gyanu Singh, Shishir Hamal, Suresh Hamal, Purna Shahi, Rudra Dahal and Keshar Chaudhary. The police are still looking for three others, Singh said.
Gyanu Singh has confessed to the police that Rakesh Hamal and Jawani Tiwari, who is yet to be arrested, had abducted the boy from Ganesh Baba English Boarding School in Tikapur on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Private and Boarding School Organization of Nepal (PABSON) and N-PABSON have closed all schools in the district to protest the abduction and demanded stern action against the abductors.
