ILAM, Nov 27: In the ongoing counting of votes of Ilam constituency-1 Representative Assembly, senior leader of CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal is behind the main competitor by 2,142 votes. CPN-UML candidate Mahesh Basnet is leading as of 10 am today.
While Basnet got 21,312 votes, Khanal got 19,170 votes. In Ilam-1, 59,136 votes were cast of 1,09,535 voters whereas 50,201 votes have been counted.
The UML's lead towards proportionality in the House of PR vote continues in the district. UML got 16,223 votes while Nepali Congress (NC) got 12,848 votes. CPN (Unified Socialist) is in third place with 6,204 votes and Nepal Swatantra Party is in fourth place with 3,424 votes.
