KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Former Prime Minister Jhalnath Khanal and Speaker, Subash Chandra Nembang of UML along with other UML candidates swept Ilam’s election. Khanal defeated Nepali Congress’s Bhupendra Kattel (19,637) in Constituency-1 for the House of Representatives.
In Constituency-2, Subash Chandra Nembang won by around 10,000 votes. Nembang received 36,514 while his opponent, Keshab Thapa of Nepali Congress received 26,830.
In Province Assembly elections, UML’s Khinu Limbu of Province 1 A won with 18,686 votes.
