The Morcha said the announcement of such state was made in a bid to pile pressure on the government for the implementation of five-point agreement reached with the government.
“We declared Khambhuwan National State amid a mass meeting organized at Bhojpur bazaar and Pandhare,” said Rajan Bantawa, spokesperson for the Morcha, adding, “We have given ultimatum to the government to implement agreement within December-January.” He warned that they will be compelled to run parallel government if their demands are not addressed promptly. “We will form national and local level government and run parallel government.”
Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Siraha, Udayapur, Bhojpur, Khotang, Dhankuta, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Sankhuwasabha, Sunsari and Morang have been included in the so-called state. The Morcha has asked the government to put its demands for discussion in the Constituent Assembly.
