Chaudhary set the national record in 100m hurdles in her first ever participation in the event as she clocked 15.9 seconds on Wednesday. Nepal APF Club´s Sabita Chaudhary had the record in her name as she had clocked 17.7 seconds to cross the hurdles during the Sixth National Games held in Dhangadhi in February 2012.[break]
"It was my first ever participation in hurdles and I´m delighted to know the result. Probably, my regular training and participation in triple jump event helped me cross the hurdles," said Chaudhary, who has returned to the track after nine-month long departmental training. "As senior athletes in my club are doing well in sprint, I decided to switch over to hurdles," she added.
If Chaudhary is to be believed, she had trained and practiced hurdles only for a week. "As I had very little time for preparations, I hope for more encouraging results in future," she said.
