Kavresthali incident:  Police say Dinesh might have committed suicide after  killing his family (update)

KATHMANDU, August 1: The bodies of four members of the same family were found in a horrible condition on Monday morning at Kavresthali-2 in Tarakeshwar Municipality of Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, August 1: The bodies of four members of the same family were found in a horrible condition on Monday morning at Kavresthali-2 in Tarakeshwar Municipality of Kathmandu.


According to the police, the deceased are Dinesh Pandey, 41, his wife Sunita Pandey,39, daughter Ashika Pandey,13, and Son Ashiq Pandey,8.


Tek Prashad Rai, spokesperson and information officer for Nepal Police said that based on the information that the children did not come to school in the morning and the main door was not opened for a long time, the police found 4 dead bodies in the house - three in one room and the other in another room.

Police also found a four-page suicide note. Police added that the kitchen knife of the house was used in the incident. According to the police, there is no evidence of an outsider entering the house.


The police who are investigating the incident have suspected that Dinesh might have committed suicide after killing his family members. 


Dinesh, who returned to Nepal four and a half years ago after staying in Kuwait for 12 years for foreign employment, opened a shop in Padmashali but sold the shop some time ago.


According to the police, there was some misunderstanding between Dinesh and Sunita so they had visited the Police Circle, Balaju, three times but at last it ended in a reconciliation.


The Crime Investigation Office team, Kathmandu, is at the scene for further investigation into the incident.
