Kathmandu win men's cricket final

KATHMANDU, April12: Region No 3 Kathmandu thrashed region No 1 Biratnagar to lift men’s cricket title in the ongoing Fifth National Games. Electing to bat first at Kirtipur Cricket Ground, Kathmandu scored 287 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. [break]



Dipendra Chaudhary scored 117 runs for Kathmandu which comprises 11 fours and a six. Skipper Paras Khadka contributed 59 runs.



Biratnagar skipper Manjit Shrestha took three wickets. Biratnagar could score only 215 runs in the allotted 50 overs losing its 8 wickets.



Ajay Rajbanshi scored unbeaten 75 runs for his side but it was not sufficient for the win as he couldn’t get the desired support from other end.



Raju Basnet, Suman Gautam and Sarad Vesawkar took two wickets each for Kathmandu. Centurion Dipendra Chaudhary was awarded man of the match.



Ajay Rajbansi of Biratnagar was declared player of the series. Birgunj’s Anil Mandal bagged best batsman award and Binod Das, also from Birgunj was adjudged best bowler of the tournament.
