KATHMANDU, Aug 2: As many as 31 new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.
Speaking at a regular virtual press briefing today, Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that 22 cases were identified in Kathmandu district, while eight cases were reported in Lalitpur district, and one in Bhaktapur district.
As the government has lifted the nationwide lockdown, the number of people entering the Kathmandu Valley has increased significantly. As people are entering the Valley from the affected regions without proper testing, the cases have also increased at an alarming rate.
How to help vulnerable groups
According to the data compiled by the Metropolitan Police Traffic Division, at least 6,000 people have been entering the Valley every day after the government lifted the nationwide lockdown.
