KATHMANDU, March 5: The sixth annual “Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament 2021” was inaugurated on Friday.
Bidya Sunder Shakya, mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, inaugurated the event in Kathmandu. A total of 12 teams are participating in the 10-day sporting event.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Mayor Shakya highlighted the potential of cricket and sports in bringing the youth of the two countries together. He appreciated the embassy’s initiative for organizing this annual event.
On the occasion, ambassador of Pakistan, Syed Haider Shah expressed his satisfaction over the growing popularity of this annual event among the Nepali Youth.

He highlighted the importance of sports for a healthy society, particularly when the world grapples with a pandemic. He thanked the mayor and the Nepal government for their support in organizing this event. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on 14th March 2021.
