KATHMANDU, May 18: Independent candidate for Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayorship Balen Shah has received over 17,000 votes in the ongoing vote counting. As per the latest results, Shah has received 17,031 votes while his closest rival Keshav Sthapit of the CPN-UML has received 8,876 votes. Similarly, Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Srijana Singh has received 7,941 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate Madandas Shrestha has received 1,225 votes.

In the contest for the post of deputy mayor, CPN-UML’s Sunita Dangol has maintained her lead with a gap of almost 10,000 votes against her nearest rival. So far, Dangol has received 13,408 votes, while CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Rameshwor Shrestha has received 4,114 votes. Likewise, RPP candidate Binita Magaiya has received 2,628 votes, while Bibeksheel Sajha Party candidate Kirti Tuladhar has received just 542 votes.
