SURKHET, Jan 8: The Planning Commission of Karnali Province will hold an Investment Conference in mid-April this year.

The 78th meeting of the provincial planning commission held on Friday made a decision to this effect, according to Sarbaraj Khadka, vice chairperson of the commission. "We have decided to organize the investment conference in mid-April this year, coinciding with the Nepali New Year," Khadka told Republica.

The conference will be held with an aim to attract foreign investment and inform the development partners about the investment potential in the province, he said.

Two provincial commission members Dr Dipendra Rokaya and Yogendra Shahi have been entrusted to study the projects to be enlisted in the "Project Bank" which was established to identify and prioritize mega projects in the province.

Sixty-seven projects in the province were listed in the Nepal Infrastructure Summit organized by the federal government in Kathmandu two years ago.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Development Council of the Karnali Province will take place in March this year. The meeting will discuss a five-year development plan prepared by the Provincial Planning Commission.
