Karate team off to Japan

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Nepali Wado-kai Karate team left for Nagoya, Japan, on Sunday to participate in the Wado-Kai Karate Do World Cup to be held there from August 15 to 18.



The five-member Nepali team consists of three players, a coach and a manager.

Niraj Maharjan will compete in men's U-60 kg category, Rajendra Malla in U-80 kg category and Kiran Dangol in U-75 kg category. Kiran is currently in Japan and will join the team in Nagoya.


Deepak Lama is the team manager while Mohan Maharjan, the chief coach of Nepal Wado-kai Karate Association, has assumed the role of coach. National Sports Council Vice President Lama Tendi Sherpa and officials of the association bade farewell to the team on Sunday in the capital.
