KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Kamal Thapa, who has announced his separation from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), is busy with the homework of forming a new party.

The issue of forming a new party will be discussed from Wednesday and will be announced in a few days, said Thapa's aide Rajaram Badtaula. According to him, the new party is going to give high priority to the agenda of Hinduism. He said that it was not decided whether to keep the agenda of the monarchy. "An announcement will be made in a day or two,” said Badtaula.

According to sources close to Thapa, the word RPP will not be added to the name of the new party. If RPP is used in the new party’s name, it would feel like a party split. In a public program in 2076 BS, Thapa touched the Bhagvad Gita and took a vow that he would never split RPP.

Meanwhile, most of the RPP leaders and cadres have recalled the incident. A leader close to Thapa said, "He (Thapa) had said that the RPP will not be split. Adding the word RPP to the name of the new party will send the message that the party is split, but if the party is announced under another name it would not give off such a message.”
