KAILALI, July 16: Seven persons have died in the period of past three months from snakebite here in the district.

Three persons died in course of treatment whereas four died while being rushed to hospital after snakebite, according to Seti Zonal Hospital Emergency Ward In – charge, Krishna Bohara.

Bohara added that the continuing age old practice in the remotest parts of seeking the help of shamans in the case of snakebite is also a reason for death.

A total of 215 persons suffering snakebites had arrived in Seti Zonal Hospital last year. In only just three months this year, there were 68 persons seeking treatment for snakebites.

Last year seven persons were killed from snakebite whereas the same number of deaths has been recorded in the first three months of this year.

Bohara has advised the locals to take precaution when travelling during the night and to seek medical treatment in time rather than visiting the shamans. RSS
