DHANGADHI, April 1: Kailali recorded an all-time high temperature for March this year, the local office of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

The highest temperature for March this year was recorded on March 25. The maximum temperature recorded on that day was 38 degrees Celsius.

“Usually, this degree of temperature should have been recorded during the first week of April. The temperature shooting this high in March alone is unusual,” said a meteorologist at the office.

It is said the duration of winter is becoming shorter and shorter and that of summer longer due to climate change as a result of growing pollution, expanding transportation, population increase and deforestation.

As a result of the increasing heat, more and more people suffering from headaches, respiratory complications and diarrhea and vomiting have been coming at the local Seti Zonal Hospital, according to hospital authorities.
