LAHAN, April 15: Judshital festival is being observed with gusto in the districts of the Terai region.
In this festival, before the sun rises, elderly members of a family offer blessings to younger family members by applying holy water to their foreheads.
Chhath festival being observed with gusto and fanfare
It is commonly believed that the holy water applied to a forehead helps the water recipients get rid of difficult life believed to be caused by the heat of the sun.
They believe that the holy water makes their hot brain cool , thereby enabling them to succeed in achieving what they want.
Judshital festival is the festival of worshipping nature, according to Maithili literature expert Laxman Jha. In this festival, holy water is applied to both human beings and plants.
On the day of this festival, people do not cook food oin the oven. They consume food cooked on the previous day.
Since this festival is associated with reducing the heat in both literal and figurative sense, they do not cook food on this day and consume the food already prepared a day ago.
