KATHMANDU, May 21: A meeting of the parliamentary party of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) is underway at Singha Durbar.
The meeting began around 10 AM.
JSP has summoned its parliamentary party meeting following President Bidya Bhandari’s move to initiate the process of forming a new government as per Article 76(5).
JSP not to join the govt anytime soon
The meeting is expected to make some crucial decisions. JSP has already stated that it would participate in the new government only if the party is given the role of leadership.
Prime Minister Oli decided not to seek a vote of confidence in parliament and asked President Bidya Devi Bhandari to pave the way to form a new government as per Article 76(5) of the constitution.
While the party leaders and constitutional leaders say the move of President Bhandari and PM Oli is unconstitutional, all eyes are now on JSP.
Issuing a press statement, Bibeksheel Sajha Party has urged opposition parties and members of parliament to unite and take an initiative to form a new government, and impeach the President.
