JANAKPURDHAM, September 5: The deadline issued by the Election Commission to the people’s representatives at the local level to shift their support toward the newly-formed parties is coming to an end. With just three days left for leaders and people’s representatives to switch their support, the Janata Samajwadi Party and the Democratic Socialist Party have been highly active in trying to lure the local level leaders and cadres into their respective parties.

However, in Province 2, which is known as the main base of the two Madhesi parties, the JSP has emerged to be a stronger party than Mahanta Thakur’s newly formed Democratic Socialist Party. The party’s chairman Mahantha Thakur, alongwith Rajendra Mahato among other party leaders arrived in Janakpurdham four days ago to lure the local people’s representative into their party. Likewise, JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav also arrived at Janakpurdham on Thursday.

Despite the efforts from Thakur and Mahato, leaders close to him before the party split have not shifted their support toward his new party. So far, they have decided to continue their support to the Janata Samajwadi Party.
