KATHMANDU, Jan 30: The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) headed by Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday in order to select chief registrar for the Supreme Court.
“The probability of picking Rajan Bhattarai who is currently serving as secretary in the Judicial Council for the position of Chief Registrar to Supreme Court is high,” a source told Republica. Chief registrar is the chief administrator of judiciary and the position is similar to the chief secretary of the government.
JSC recommends Pokharel as high court registrar
According to the source, former Supreme Court Registrar Nripa Dhwaj Niraula is the seniormost official in the JSC but he has been transferred to the Commission for Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons so there was no possibility of bringing him back to the judiciary again.
The position of chief registrar is lying vacant since the last few weeks after Nahakul Subedi was named chief judge of the High Court, Tulsipur.
