Journo attackers given five years’ jail

JHAPA, Dec 2: The District Court, Jhapa, has slapped five years in jail to attackers of Jhapa-based journalists Rejina Rodan and office secretary of Federation of Nepali Journalist, Jhapa, Khem Baral.

Attackers Arjun Subba and Binayak Manandhar have been sentenced to five years in prison from a single bench of Judge Matrika Prasad Acharya, Nabaraj Acharya, the Registrar of the District Court said.


Likewise, Anis Suuba, a minor involved in the incident, would be kept in the Child Reforms Centre, Biratnagar, for 30 months as per the Children Act, 2048, Registrar Acharya said. Bishnumaya Gautam had lodged the case in October last year.

The Rodan and Baral were attacked while returning their homes after completing their jobs of the Jhapa-based Arjundhara Daily. RSS
