Basanta Malla, 21, was found dead in a paddy field in the neighboring Lodhai village in Udayapur VDC-8 on Monday morning.
An armed group of four people had abducted Malla from near his home at around 9 p.m. on Sunday. Malla was shot in the chest, and also received injuries to other parts of the body including eyes and ears.
Locals and police had searched for Malla the whole night soon after the kidnappers informed his family about his abduction through his mobile phone, Malla´s younger brother Bijay said.
Malla worked at a shoe shop in New Road of Nepalgunj. Mingmar Lama, chief of police at District Police Office, Banke, said they were yet to find the motives behind Malla´s murder.
Meanwhile, Janatantrik Madhesi Mukti Tigers´s politburo member Bhagat Singh claimed responsibility for Malla´s murder.
A team lead by district army commander Vikrant killed Malla for working against JMMT, Singh who is also JMMT´s Banke and Bardiya in-charge told the media over the telephone.
