Jhapa XI into Tilottama quarters

RUPANDEHI, Feb 17: Jhapa XI has advanced into the quarterfinals of the ongoing 21st Tilottama Gold Cup defeating departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) Club 2-0 in Butwal on Saturday. 


At the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Academy’s football ground in Devinagar, captain Karna Limbu gave Jhapa the lead in the eighth minute of the game.

APF created a lot of chances with attacking football in the first half, but could not convert them. 

Buddha Bal Tamang scored the second for Jhapa in the 50th minute as he took advantage of a loss of possession from APF keeper Amrit Chaudhary. 


APF created some chances through Ramesh Dangol, Santosh Shrestha, Buddhiman Rai and Aashish Lama, but none of them could score for the departmental side. 


Goalscorer Limbu was named the man of the match and was rewarded with Rs 10,000. 


A total of 10 teams including departmental teams APF and Nepal Police Club,  Jhapa XI, Sunsari XI, Rupandehi XI, Chyasal XI, Sankata Club, Manang Marshyangdi Club, India’s Brothers United Club, and Cameroon’s Dauphins Football Club are taking part in the tournament.
