Japanese minister concludes three-day visit to Nepal

KATHMANDU, July 2: Concluding a three-day official visit to Nepal, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, Hideyuki Tanaka, returned home on Monday.

KATHMANDU, July 2: Concluding a three-day official visit to Nepal, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, Hideyuki Tanaka, returned home on Monday.


During the visit, the Japanese vice minister held a meeting with his counterpart Padma Kumari Aryal in Kathmandu. Apart from official meetings, he inspected a disaster management project site at Dahachowk which was funded by the Japanese government as part of its Official Development Assistance to Nepal from 1999 to 2004.

The minister also inspected reconstruction works of earthquake-ravaged Bungamati, a historical urban settlement on the outskirts of Kathmandu.


UN-Habitat has been carrying out reconstruction activities at Bungamati area as part of its project called Sustainable Tourism and Green Growth for Heritage Settlements of Kathmandu Valley. During his stay, he also visited Patan Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square.
