Japanese grant for girls´ hostel

KATHMANDU, March 4: The Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu has decided to extend a grant of US$ 83,488 (Rs 6.9 million) for the construction of girls´ hostel of Bhojpur Multiple Campus. A statement issued by the Embassy on Wednesday said the grant contract to this effect was signed and exchanged between Japanese envoy Tatsuo Mizuno and Jayanti Rai of the campus.

The grant will be utilized for the construction of a three-storey hostel building consisting of 24 rooms, providing accommodation facilities for 52 female students, mainly from remote areas of the eastern region. Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Japanese envoy stressed the need for promoting girls´ education for economic and social development of Nepal, according to the statement.
