The top office bearers of the UCPN (Maoist) took a decision to this effect on Wednesday.[break]
"We hope the disputes will end now," said CP Gajurel, another secretary of the party. The party decision quashes the hope of disputed chief of ANTUF Jammakattel to head the committee.
The party had earlier decided to retain Jammakattel as the coordinator of the committee, but the defiant factions led by Badri Bajgain and Lal Dhwaj Nembang stood grounds against the party decision.
Jammakattel is close to Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Bajgain is from Senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya faction and Nembang from Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai faction.
The Bajgain and Nembang factions had demanded that Bogati be given the responsibility of holding the national convention.
Responding to the party decision, Bajgain said the decision is in favor of "the people", but maintained that his faction would not accept Jammakattel in the committee to be headed by Bogati on any position.
"What we want is that criminals should not be inducted into the committee. Otherwise, the decision taken by the party will just be a sham," said Bajgain.
Whether Bogati would induct Jammakattel into his committee is not yet clear.
The growing factionalism in the UCPN (Maoist) reflected in all its sister organizations, mainly in the ANTUF. Bajgain and Nembang accused Jammakattel of financial embezzlement, sell-out and other misconducts, though the latter refuted the claims.
The rival factions were involved in a series of brawls and assaults against each other in the public places. The new committee led by Bogati is expected to hold the national convention within the next few months.
