KATHMANDU, Aug. 11: Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is likely to visit Kathmandu in the final week of August to personally invite Prime Minister Balendra Shah to the upcoming BRICS Summit.
Sources said Jaishankar is expected to meet PM Shah during his visit and formally extend the invitation to the Nepali prime minister.

Vijay Chauthaiwale, head of the foreign affairs department of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is also scheduled to visit Kathmandu around the same time.
According to diplomatic sources, Jaishankar and Chauthaiwale are expected to visit Nepal and hold a series of diplomatic meetings.
Nepal had previously participated in the BRICS Summit under then-Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. During the summit, Dahal held a joint meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
