Around 250 thousand have been so far amassed from National Civil Servant Association. However, chief of Officer Section Sunsari Ram Koirala claimed that only the officials affiliated to Maoist have been asked to donate.

Akhil Nepal Trade Union Mahasangh had sent formal letters to the local businessmen. The large scale businessmen have been listed the donation amount while the amount has not been mentioned for small scale businessmen, informed Ishwar Bhattarai, chairman of Itahari Udyog Banijya Sangh.

Tika Prasai, chairman of the Mahasangh, admitted that they had sent the letters to the businessmen but had not idea about the collected amount through the donation.

The Maoists have even targeted small scale shops like pan shops and bangle shops.

They have threatened to take stern action against those who refuse to donate.

District Secretary Nirmal Baral said that those who refuse to donate would be taken stern action after May 1.

The party is planning to bring thousands of the people to participate in a May 1 demonstration at Biratnagar which has been seen as a reason for the donation drive.
