KATHMANDU, Oct 9: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that it is wrong to claim that the court of law was given a share in the ministerial berths.

Speaking with media persons on Saturday, Dahal said that Gajendra Hamal was appointed as a minister from the NC quota. He said that it is unnecessary to make a fuss about it. “Hamal is a member of the NC and he was inducted as a minister into the Cabinet under the NC quota. So, there is no point in questioning where he came from,” said Dahal.

Stating that there is a provision in the constitution that allows a person who is not a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) to become a minister, Dahal said that the constitution allows a non-member of HoR to become a minister for six months.

“People who were not members of parliament were appointed as ministers in the past as well. This is not a new thing,” Dahal said. Furthermore, he clarified that there is no foul play or ‘setting’ in the appointment of Hamal to the post of minister.

“The government is procuring vaccines against COVID-19. The main priority of the government is to save the lives of the Nepali people,” he said. In addition, Dahal said that the government is also focused on taking the works of development forward.

Furthermore, stating that the issues of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani were raised by them and not by former PM KP Sharma Oli, Dahal said that the suggestion of presenting the issue in parliament was also given by them.

Chairman Dalhal also clarified that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will not be passed without making amendments to it and the consent of the nation. Stating that the opposition has no moral and political right to obstruct the parliament meetings, Dahal said that there is no logic behind obstructing the HoR meetings.
