KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Nepali Ambassador to China Leela Mani Paudyal has said that it is the best time for Chinese investors to invest in Nepal.
Speaking at a pre-summit conference on Nepal Investment Conference in Beijing, Ambassador Paudyal pointed out that Nepal's enormous natural and human resources coupled with political stability and excellent bilateral relations between the two countries make it the best time for Chinese investors to invest in Nepal.
He called on Chinese companies to tap Nepal's huge potentials in infrastructure, hydropower, tourism, agriculture and ICT sectors.
Chinese investors show interest to invest in Lumbini
Speaking at the same event, CEO of Investment Board of Nepal, Maha Prasad Adhikari highlighted on investment opportunities in Nepal, as well as on policy, institutional and procedural reforms initiated by the Government of Nepal for attracting foreign investments. He invited Chinese investors to participate in Nepal Investment Summit being held in Nepal on 29-30 March 2019 and utilize the opportunities available at the Summit.
Representatives from ZTE Corporation and Power China, two leading Chinese investors in Nepal, shared their experiences, and encouraged more Chinese companies to take advantage of the attractive investment opportunities available in the country.
More than 120 representatives from Chinese business enterprises, government agencies, universities and the media attended the conference.
Meanwhile, CEO Adhikari met with President of AIIB, Jin Liqun at the Bank's Headquarters in Beijing. During the meeting, CEO Adhikari briefed Chairman Jin on the upcoming Nepal Investment Summit, and expressed the confidence that AIIB's support will be crucial in Nepal's socio-economic development.
Chairman Jin assured that AIIB would continue to lend its full support to Nepal's development endeavors. He also shared that there would be senior level representation from AIIB in Nepal Investment Summit being held in March.
